A production featuring 4 dancers and 5 musicians, an original music and fusion of two dance styles: contemporary dance and flamenco.
Metamorphosis is a dance-musical performance which tells the story about conflict and reconciliation of traditional and modern. It has been developed through musician’s and choreographer’s mutual cooperation and experience exchange by combining two different dance disciplines - flamenco and contemporary dance and music. Metamorphosis has linked together some remote and seemingly opposing structures: inherited and modern, conventional and free, rigid and dynamic, in which the author herself examines the possibilities of reconciliation and communication between partners in this binary string.
Metamorphosis carries a mystical presentiment of eternal transcendent struggles whose reflection is present in our own individuality. The identity of a modern man has been presented as a necessary eclectic. The modern society is suffocating the human need for personal development and individual expression, especially when acquired habits have been transformed into automated behavioral responses. Man becomes his own prisoner, bound in his own chains and automatism. Modern man, however, wishes for freedom and doesn’t accept self-consciousness, doesn’t want to be cocooned, and wants to become a butterfly. If the imposed is accepted, he will drown, therefore he is seeking transformation. The personal struggle and desire to transform has made author to explore new paths on her own, which all lead to this artistic expression.
